Overboard

This scene is from the classic 80s movie Overboard. Post-chainsaw incident, a visibly traumatized Goldie Hawn can only mutter, “buh, buh, buh.” I painted it on a piece of plywood as a nod to Kurt Russell’s carpenter character. The only thing I didn’t paint was the hair. I left the natural wood grain to represent Goldie’s golden locks, up close, it almost looks metallic.

The text was written by my kids, in honor of the children tormenting her in that exact scene.

It had been years since I watched the movie, so I revisited it before starting this. It’s sexist, misogynistic, and plays fast and loose with Stockholm syndrome. But still, Goldie Hawn is so damn funny it’s hard to not love it.
